1.  Agreement with Kanagawa Prefectural Government on Promotion of Collaboration in Sports

On January 28, 2013, YNU and Kanagawa Prefectural Government concluded an agreement on promoting collaboration and cooperation in sports. This agreement aims at offering places and systems for anyone in Kanagawa to enjoy sports. In particular, YNU will offer the sports facilities such as baseball field and athletics track field to the public, and Kanagawa Prefectural Government will announce the availability of the facilities on their websites and community papers.

2.  YNU International Symposium “Revisiting Okakura Kakuzo’s Achievements: Lessons for the 21st Century”

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On January 25, 2013, the International Division held YNU International Symposium “Revisiting Okakura Kakuzo’s Achievements: Lessons for the 21st Century.” Okakura was born in Yokohama 150 years ago and played an active role in the world as an art critic, thinker, and philosopher. It was an attempt to revise his achievements from the standpoint of regarding him as a model case of “global human resources”. Some 200 YNU students and local citizens attended the symposium and listened eagerly to keynote lectures and panel discussions.

3.  Award Ceremony of 2012 YNU International Academic Exchange Scholarship

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On February 21, 2013, YNU held an award ceremony of International Academic Exchange Scholarship. This scholarship was founded in 2007 to give financial support to YNU students who make presentations at international conferences or take part in research activities overseas. This year, among 100 applicants, 18 were chosen after strict screening. At the ceremony, President Kunio Suzuki gave each recipient a word of praise and handed the award of certificate.

4.  Alumni Reunion Held in Malaysia

On December 7, 2012, YNU Alumni reunion was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Executive Director and Vice President Shuji Mizoguchi, Vice President Hitoshi Yamada, College of Business Administration Assistant Professor Hisami Andrade, International Division Senior Specialist Hiroshi Inoue, and Student Support Division Officer Tatsuhiro Nagano participated in the reunion.

5.  Tokyo Metropolis Study Tour for International Students

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On February 14, 2013, 20 international students participated in a field trip to central Tokyo. Students visited Edo-Tokyo Museum, took Sumida River Cruise from Asakusa to Hinode Pier, and visited NHK Studio Park. It was a fruitful trip for the students, being able to directly experience Japanese history, culture, and the broadcasting technologies.

(Info)Kanagawa Prefectural Government Established “Kanagawa International Fan Club”. The Club is a network of foreign people who are familiar with Kanagawa, such as those who are studying in the prefecture.  Through the Club, we aim to establish the network to link Kanagawa with the world, send out and exchange information on attractive features of Kanagawa, and promote human interaction together with foreign nationals who have ties with Kanagawa. Why not join the Club?
